The North of Morocco is home to three of the four historical capitals of Morocco: Fes, Meknes and Rabat (official capital of Morocco). The medina in Fes, also known as Fes Al Bali (UNESCO Heritage Site) is the largest medina in the world, is more than 1000 years old and is home to mosques, ancient buildings, and the Kairaouine University. Not far from the imperial city of Meknes you’ll find the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a predecessor city dating back to the 2nd century AD that is now UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Northern Morocco features both sea and mountain with magnificent landscapes. Tangier, Casablanca and El Jadida offer charm as well as lengthy pleasant beaches. To escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city, we find the modest Chefchaouen Village, also known as the “Blue Pearl”, tucked into the Rif Mountains. Chefchaouen offers a relaxed atmosphere with some of the friendliest people in the country and is known for its blue-washed buildings inside its historic medina.
