El Pilar (Saragossa) ♦Torreciudad (Huesca) ♦Lourdes (St. Bernadette) ♦ Meritxell (Andorra) ♦ MontSerrat (Catalonia)
Travelling through different stages, the Mariana Route crosses the land of three countries (Spain, France, and Andorra) and offers the possibility to visit five sanctuaries dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary: El Pilar, Torreciudad, Lourdes, Meritxell (Andorra) and Montserrat. This itinerary combines culture and devotion, art and spirituality, nature, and introspection.
El Pilar dedicated to Our Lady of the Pillar, patron saint of Hispanidad; Torreciudad well known for being the Spanish sanctuary of Opus Dei; Abadia MontSerrat, in the middle of an imposing natural landmark hosts the famous image of Our Lady of Monte Serreado, the patron saint of Catalonia; Lourdes, in France, is considered one of the largest pilgrimage centres in the Catholic world and Meritxell surrounded by an incomparable landscape devotes itself to Our Lady of Meritxell the patron saint of the Principality of Andorra.
The Mariana Route goes beyond spirituality, it offers wonderful views of the Pyrenees mountains and their nature, with many interesting monuments along the way, as well as the unique experience of tasting Spanish, French and Andorran cuisine and discovering even more while surrounded by the customs, languages, and people of these countries, which will make you feel as if you are travelling back in time.
